FoodUnfolded Food Literacy Activities 2025-Request for Implementing Participants
FoodUnfolded is a programme providing evidence-based content that helps people make healthier and more sustainable food choices. Our mission is to provide people with valuable and practical tools and information to improve their food literacy.
We are seeking proposals from organisations based in one of the following RIS countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey with proven experience in implementing food literacy activities preferably within EIT Food activities.
In their proposals, applicants must identify and target audience groups based on their own determined criteria for example, their existing network, audiences with the greatest need or those most willing to engage.
Applicants are also asked to plan clear methods for counting the engagement level (i.e. people participating in the activities).
Successful applicants will be supported through the provision of a read-to-print FoodUnfolded roll-up and brand identity guidelines for applicants to create branded materials and existing tools/games (e.g. Top Trumps cards, Sort Your Fridge exercise, Food Waste quiz). Applicants are expected to produce branded collateral that include the FoodUnfolded logo and website.

Applications are submitted electronically via the EIT Food platform by the applicant. Only the contents of application form fields will be evaluated. Please provide all data you want to be evaluated as answers in the respective fields of the application forms. Please do not share additional supporting documents or other files because they will not be evaluated.

Who can apply for this call?
This call is open to legally registered organisations from the 15 RIS countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey. Applicants should have proven experience in implementing food literacy activities, ideally within EIT Food initiatives.
What is the funding available for selected participants?
The total available funding for this call is €150,000, with up to €12,000 per selected organisation, including indirect costs. Funding is provided as a subgrant and must comply with Horizon Europe regulations.
What types of activities are expected?
Selected organisations are required to organise or participate in at least three public events with engaging Food Literacy Activities. These could be at festivals, sport events or in supermarkets, parks, or other open spaces. Activities should engage adults (18+) and focus on topics such as healthy eating, food sustainability, and reducing food waste.
What are the key deliverables for selected participants?
Participants must submit a final activity report, including event descriptions, engagement metrics (minimum 3 000 adults reached), and supporting documents (e.g., photos, proof of participation). Compliance with EIT Food’s communication and branding guidelines is required.
What is the deadline for applications?
Applications must be submitted by April 8, 2025. Selected participants will be notified by the week of April 24, with activities starting at the beginning of June 2025 and running until December 31, 2025.
Can online events and activities count toward achieving the KPI?
The KPI, which requires reaching a minimum of 3,000 adults, must be met through organising or attending offline, public events. However, applicants are encouraged to include additional online activities in their communication and dissemination plan to enhance their food literacy outreach if appropriate.
