Marketplace The future of the food system: a focus on capabilities

16 October | h. 13:00 - 14:45

Starting from the skills and capability gaps that we know exist or will emerge, this panel discussion and audience Q&A will highlight some of the challenges we know industry is facing in terms of attracting and retaining top talent (e.g. due to competition from other sectors, a disconnect between current and future skills needs, etc). The discussion will touch on a number of relevant questions about how to create future-proof organisations:

  • How to connect the macro-level of corporate strategy with the meso-level of capability building and the micro-level of hiring individuals
  • How to transition from a more reactive mode to a proactive mode of capability building
  • How young professionals are building capabilities and how to make those visible to potential employers in the context of their strategies
  • How to balance capability building through internal (training and upskilling) and external (recruitment) approaches
  • How the training sector is adapting to industry needs

The panel brings together industry, ecosystem builders, professionals and skills enablers to explore insights about the state of capacity building for food systems transformation, raising the profile of skills-oriented actions, and a clear call to action for industry, entrepreneurs and academia to invest in capability building linked to the Pact for Skills.
