A solution to monitor water pollution wins the ‘InnoWise Challenge Lab’ in Greece

The InnoWise Challenge Lab in Greece was one of the three final competitions for startups with the goal of finding innovations for water scarcity in Southern Europe. From the seven finalists, Aquacorp won the first place and Urban Food was the second place winner.

On September 15 the Innowise Challenge Lab was held in Greece during the Green Deal congress. This was one of the of the three final competitions for startups with the goal of finding innovations for water scarcity in Southern Europe.

After three months of intensive training and specialized workshops from the agrifood and water industry’s finest experts, the 26 participating startups had to pitch their their innovative solutions for water scarcity. The ‘Innowise Challenge Labs’ were held in Italy, Spain and Greece. Seven finalists were selected on the Greek Final: Aquacorp, Urban Food, Airbots, Develiot, Matrix, Scubic y Solmeyea. 

The spanish startup Aquacorp won the first place and received a 10,000€ award in this competition. Aquacorp’s objective is to bring a scalable, affordable and cost-effective technology to market to monitor every single effluent, make an adequate water quality management and take care of watery ecosystems´ sustainability. 

The second place winner who received a 5,000€ prize was Urban Food (Cyprus). They presented a project to address the carbon footprint of food production through a carbon-neutral, water-saving and pesticide-free greenhouse, where all the energy needed for cooling, heating, lighting, pumping and ventilation is provided by sustainable and renewable solar energy.
