What’s New In The Los Salvacomidas School Programme?

This year, Los Salvacomidas introduces several exciting updates, combining education with fun to create a WOW experience for students.

Brand-New Video Game: Trip to the Farm

A standout addition to this year’s programme is Trip to the Farm, a video game that takes students on an interactive journey through the entire agrifood value chain. Available in five languages—Spanish, English, Basque, Catalan, and Galician—the game aims to raise awareness about the importance of food sustainability and health.

With four engaging mini-games, Trip to the Farm challenges students to think critically about key food-related topics, including:

  • Seasonal Fruits: Understanding the importance of eating fruits in season and their environmental benefits.
  • Wholesome Foods: Encouraging students to identify nutritious, unprocessed foods as part of a healthy diet.
  • Dairy Products: Learning about dairy’s role in a balanced diet and sustainable farming practices.
  • Food Waste Tips: Offering practical advice on reducing food waste at home and school.

Class Contest: Fostering Innovation and Creativity

Primary students are invited to take part in an exciting class contest, encouraging them to come up with creative solutions to health and sustainability challenges. The contest is designed to engage students in real-world problems while fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

How It Works:

  • Choose Your Topic: Students can focus on either healthy eating or zero waste.
    • Healthy eating: Explore issues like high consumption of sugary foods and how to promote balanced, nutritious meals.
    • Zero waste: Tackle problems like single-use plastics or food waste and create a plan to reduce waste.
  • Define the Challenge: Identify a specific challenge within the chosen topic. For example, students might address the high intake of sugary snacks in their class and propose a week-long initiative to replace them with seasonal fruits.
  • Present Your Solution: Students document their journey through photos or videos, showcasing the challenge they’ve tackled and the solutions they’ve implemented.

Launching a New, Intuitive Website: Easier Access, Enhanced Learning

The 4th edition of Los Salvacomidas marks the launch of a completely revamped website designed to enhance user experience.

The new platform offers a more streamlined interface, allowing users to easily navigate and access the programme's vast array of resources. Healthy Eating and Zero Waste is the order of the day!

Key Features of the New Website:

  • Easier Access to Materials: Teachers can now quickly find cross-curricular educational resources tailored to both primary and secondary students.
  • Simplified Contest Participation: Participating in the class contest is now a breeze, thanks to a new, user-friendly submission system. Teachers and students can upload their project entries, whether photos or videos, directly through the platform with just a few clicks.
  • Rebranding for a United Family: The new website reflects a fresh visual identity, underscoring Los Salvacomidas’s commitment to a stronger partnership with Food Educators.

With these exciting updates, Los Salvacomidas continues to evolve as a vital tool in promoting healthier, more sustainable lifestyles in schools. The countdown to healthier, more sustainable schools has begun!
