Journalism Awards Celebrated Excellence in 2024´s edition
For another edition in a row the EIT Food Journalism Awards in Innovation and Sustainability project has set a new record of applications, in Italy, Spain and Portugal. This edition, recognised and showcased journalistic excellence focused on agrifood challegues.
This edition, which focused on the challenges facing the agrifood sector, has highlighted the crucial role that journalists play in making important information accessible to the public. Their work has brought attention to critical topics such as food waste, food security, and sustainability, among others, driving positive change in the sector.
By raising awareness, journalists inspire action toward creating a healthier, more sustainable, and resilient food system. This year’s awards once again celebrate the outstanding contributions of journalists in advancing these essential conversations.
For another consecutive year, EIT Food is happy to announce that the Journalism Awards project has reached a record number of applications, a total of 260 from 153 Italian, Spanish and Portuguese journalist.
Italian edition
The fifth edition of the Italian Journalism Awards was held the 14th of October in the contest of Next Bite event in Rome.

Portuguese edition
The fourth edition of the Portuguese Journalism Awards was held in the Escola Superior de Comunicação Social on the 4th of December in Lisbon.

- Carlos Rico (SIC) - “Semear o Futuro”
- Carla Tomás, Micael Pereira, Sara Pinho, Sofia Miguel Rosa e José Fernandes (Expresso) – “Como a crise da água no Sudoeste alentejano se tornou uma guerra a céu aberto”
Spanish edition
The sixth edition of the Spanish Journalism Awards reached new heights this year, culminating in a celebration on the 10th of December in centre of Madrid.

- Raquel Caparrós y Xavier Arias (TVE, El Escarabajo Verde): ‘El pastor invisible’
