Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) Programme 2024: Demo Day in Ukraine
On November 27, Kyiv hosted the Demo Day of the Empowering Women in Agrifood (EWA) programme, organized by Radar Tech in partnership with EIT Food. The Pitching event celebrated the achievements of ten remarkable women entrepreneurs who developed innovative solutions in the agrifood sector over a six-month intensive programme.
The EWA programme in Ukraine brought together 10 dedicated mentors who led 14 workshops and delivered a total of 36 hours of one-on-one mentoring sessions. Throughout the duration of the programme, 200 hours of mentorship were provided to 10 women entrepreneurs, offering them invaluable guidance and support. In addition to the mentoring sessions, participants had the opportunity to explore key industry hubs, including UNIT.City, the Production Center, and MHP's Culinary Center. The programme also included a Communication English course, sponsored by EIT Food, further enhancing the entrepreneurs' skills for success.
EWA Ukraine 2024 Winners
The first prize of €10,000 was awarded to Yulia Lohvinovska for her vertical farming project, LUCA. Lohvinovska’s innovative approach to sustainable food production earned her recognition, and she will represent Ukraine at the prestigious Women In Agrifood Stories 2024 event in Lisbon.
Tetiana Kulahina won the second prize of €5,000 for her project, MIR. This multi-purpose plant growth and development immunoregulator aims to improve agricultural efficiency, showcasing her commitment to enhancing food production and sustainability.
The winners were selected by a panel of distinguished experts:
- Serhii Opria – President of the Ukrainian Business Angels Network and Founder of G*Aggregator innovation ecosystem.
- Oleksandr Yatsenko – Principal at SMOK Ventures and Chairman of Techosystem.
- Taras Pasazhko – Head of Investment and Analytics Department at Fozzy Group.
- Olena Tokar – Founder of LOL&POP natural sweets, business mentor, international business expert, and motivational speaker.
Their knowledge and experience played a key role in selecting and recognizing the innovative projects that have the potential to change the agrifood industry.
Inspiring Keynote Speech
One of the most impactful moments of the event was the keynote speech by Iryna Tytarchuk, Executive Director of ITFC and founder of the Women IN initiative. Her speech delved into the challenges and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs in Ukraine, highlighting the resilience and innovation of women in the agrifood sector despite ongoing challenges.

The Pitching event was not only about celebrating individual achievements but also about showcasing the diverse and transformative innovations shaping the future of agriculture. Key projects included:
