until Wed, June 19, 2024
Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology (Pierottijeva ul. 6, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia)

Based on global trends, strengths, and potential in Croatia’s business and research and development sectors, and in line with the results of the entrepreneurial discovery process and the main selection criteria outlined in the recently prepared Smart Specialization Strategy (S3) until 2029, Croatia has identified key thematic priority areas expected to achieve the highest added value and significantly boost the competitiveness of the Croatian economy. The main thematic priority areas of S3 in Croatia until 2029 are personalized healthcare, smart and clean energy, smart and green transport, safety and dual-use technologies, sustainable and circular food production, and digital products and platforms. The main goals of Croatia’s S3 until 2029 are to improve scientific excellence, bridge the gap between research and business sectors, and increase innovation efficiency. In light of these priorities and goals, EIT Food Hub Croatia is organizing a Cross-kick roundtable event: “Growing the Innovation Ecosystem for Healthy and Safe Food - Policy to Practice” on June 19, 2024, at 9:30 am.

Roundtable “Growing Ecosystem for Healthy and Safe Food - Policy to practice” aims to demonstrate the cooperation between the government, the business sector and the university through the triple helix model, through which solid foundations are created for the development of a region and country.

The uniqueness of this model is manifested precisely in the interwoven cooperation of all three mentioned actors, and it is precisely through such cooperation that the development of innovations, exploitation of opportunities, and social and economic progress occurs.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is a unique initiative of the European Union that encourages innovation and entrepreneurship across Europe through the idea of the strength of diversity. It supports the development of dynamic pan-European partnerships between leading universities, research laboratories and companies. Together they develop innovative products and services, open new companies and train a new generation of entrepreneurs, bring ideas to the market, turn students into entrepreneurs and most importantly bring innovation. These partnerships are called EIT Innovation Communities. EIT support helps innovators and entrepreneurs across Europe to turn their ideas into products and services for the market.
