As a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) that aims to make the food system more sustainable, healthy, and trusted, EIT Food supports entrepreneurs, researchers, students and professionals who are developing innovative solutions for the food sector.

EIT Food also offers a variety of educational programmes, funding opportunities, events and activities to help raise awareness and foster collaboration among the agrifood community. What to expect?

On November 15th, participants in the EWA (Empowering Women in Agrifood) programme will gather at Startit Centre Belgrade, and present the solutions and progress they made during the course of the project.

As part of EWA, 10 women entrepreneurs explored the challenges of net-zero food systems, healthier living through food, and risk-management in food systems, and in the

course of six months, devised their solutions through a programme involving individual mentorship, networking and workshops.

As part of the event, these entrepreneurs will pitch the ideas and solutions that resulted from the mentoring process and training within EWA in front of conference attendees and a jury, which will decide the winners of the final grants.

Apart from this, the event will also include two keynote speeches, followed by the winners announcement ceremony and networking. Participants will have the chance to see the pitch presentations, ask questions and improve their knowledge of food systems.

The keynotes will cover important topics, such as presenting the benefits of a farm-to-table concept implemented in Serbia, as well as a lecture on implementing new technologies in agrifood.

On the second day of the conference, November 16th, the programme will mark the final day of Challenge Labs 2023, an educational programme that teaches participants how to apply design thinking methodology to solve real-world problems in the agrifood domain.

Challenge Labs participants have been working on three challenges related to food waste reduction, sustainable and healthy nutrition, and resilient food systems through four weekly workshops, where they learned how to ideate, prototype and test their solutions with the help of experts from agriculture and business.

The teams that participated in the Challenge Labs 2023 programme will pitch their final solutions in front of a panel of judges, who will award a cash prize of 2.000€ to the best idea/project.

In addition to the Challenge Labs 2023 Final, the second day of the conference will also feature an introduction to EIT Food in Serbia, with more information about the mission, vision, goals and activities of this organisation, as well as a guest speaker who will share their insights and experience on a relevant topic in the agrifood sector.

Finally, conference participants will also have the opportunity to network with other attendees, speakers, judges and organisers over some refreshments and snacks.
